I have revised my thesis statement to two sentences, rather than one. This is so that my point can be understood in a more effective way. My thesis statement is as follows. “There should be more stringent screening processes for individuals wanting to own guns in the United States because the current laws and regulations do not require mental health background checks and evaluations. Too many people with mental health issues are slipping through the cracks and obtaining weapons and then using them on innocent people.”
My writing process was very effective and helped me reached a college level paper. The style of my paper was MLA, which is a standard writing style. Making my paper into MLA style is really easy for me, it is also one of my strong points. Since high school MLA has always been used so it stuck with me.
The most common writing in school are essays or research papers. We need to do our essays with formal English. Always having good arguments, claims, and evidence. In order to compose a good essay it is important to have a good argument and doing many research to have valid and legitimate evidence. Throughout my education, I had to do many essays.
Every academic write up should be able to give the big picture and will mostly start with an introduction which gives an idea of how the rest of the paper is going to be laid out. Ensure the tone is balanced in your paper as well as maintaining good diction. Use clear language by structuring your sentences and paragraphs well and when arguing your point use evidence based argument unless giving out a personal opinion. According to the article, “Your success with academic writing depends upon how well you understand what you are doing as you write and then how you approach the writing task (Irvine 3)” This backups the claim that I have just made. The way you write does not have to be complicated. You can start off as little as just an idea about what you are going to write about and that's a good enough start. “Most people as they start college have wildly strange ideas about what they are doing when they write an essay, or worse-- they have no clear idea at all (Irvine 4)”

The reason that I am reach out to you is that I have some concern about the course, and how it will impact my life once I leave Collins. Since I was a little girl, I really have never been a fanatic of english the reason for this I struggle to talk write and read the language. Now I have improve on talking and reading, but as much as I have improve in those area I am still lacking on my writing. I am having problems with my grammar and my thesis statement; I am able to understand the topic and write a lot more than what is required from me.
Overall, I have made the paper to focus more on myself. For instance, I edited the thesis statement so that it represent my point of view about the social class instead of what other people think. Such as I used the word me, I, and I am throughout the thesis instead of people. By doing so, make more sense when connected to the third paragraph, which talks about my goals, ambition, what I hold dear, and the reason I choose Thomas. Plus, I added more information to the conclusion so that it's more about me.
There is little bit of thought you can put behind developing a thesis statement. For instance what elements are you going to use to develop a thesis, where will you place the thesis statement, and the types of evidence you will use to support your thesis.? When it comes to placing the thesis statement in your essay you can pretty much place in the beginning, the middle, or the end. (Connelly, 2013 ). The types of evidence that can also be used in supporting the thesis are facts, judgment, and testimony.
The introduction is understandable but I had to read the first sentence a few times before I could advance to the thesis statement. The introduction paragraph needs a clear sentence that grabs the attention of your readers. I enjoyed your thesis, but after reading your body paragraphs, it is hard to understand the first sentence in your introductory paragraph adding to support your main point. I was confused trying to figure out if your visit to the hospital was the results of a terminal illness or your wisdom teeth. A few clues utilizing speech in your narrative more, could give a clear understanding of the scene.
The essay fulfills the assignment as it is persuasive. Arguments presented are clear and well-supported. The thesis statement of my essay is focused and concise. The body paragraphs have a single unified idea which is expressed in the topic sentence, and supported by examples. The conclusion reflects the thesis statement and synthesizes supporting arguments.
The first piece of information I learned from chapter three is to provide an opinion or attitude about the facts rather than stating the obvious when writing a thesis. A writer who creates a thesis statement that addresses their opinion on the chosen topic avoids writing a thesis statement that expresses the obvious and can be used by anyone without using too much information. The impact this piece of information will have on me is that I will be capable of creating a thesis statement that states my position on the chosen topic and will keep my reader stay oriented when reading my paper. In the future, I hope to teach English to ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelve grade students. I understand that I will have students that have many different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and I also understand that they will all respond to their successes and failures very differently. I want to be aware of the differences in the way the students achieve motivation and recognize a sense of self-worth, a sense of autonomy, address the need for relatedness, implement values and goals, and have attributions. One particular example of addressing motivation takes place within a tenth grade classroom. Even though I passed both Beginning English and Intermediate English with high grades, English for me is rather hard to comprehend because I can’t remember all the rules that are associated with it. Both of my English classes where online and I found them to be hard since I simply read what was assigned to me, did my work and wait for feedback from my teacher; however, I couldn’t fully understand why I was receiving the feedback, if I didn’t understand the rules. I recall making an A in Beginning English and having a high B in Intermediate English. One of my weak points in English is developing a thesis statement, I can’t develop them to express my points or thoughts.
More often than not, a paper can either be good or bad, solely dependent upon how and when the paper’s thesis statement was written, and if it’s good or not. A good paper is written based off of a key idea, and that key idea is your thesis statement. Without it, your paper will make no sense to the reader, and it will be an unorganized mess. It’s similar to an outline, it helps you organize your thoughts, it gives you something to base your paper off of, and you plan it before you write your paper. Your thesis statement should be like the centerpiece for your paper, you want it to be visible and prominent for the reader to take note of, and be intrigued with.
