To What Extent Is John Brown A Hero

Is John Brown a hero or a villain? Well, he is a hero. Some evidence is he was willing to kill for slaves, he would put himself in danger for slaves, and lastly he was willing to lie for slaves. John Brown and him being a hero is a very important topic because he may have been one of the causes that the civil war started. John Brown is important in this cause because slavery ended after the Civil War and that was his life mission. John Brown was a villain/here because He put himself in a lot of danger when he bought the pikes for the slaves, He killed the white master because he had slaves and thought they were okay and He was convicted for treason and was on trial for death and had to lie so he could save them My first reason why John Brown is a hero is he

This was a big deal, and this is what started John Brown's mission. He killed three of his families because they were with people that owned slaves even though they were not planning to own any. He believed that the slaves should be freed and violence was the answer for some of his problems with freeing the slaves. My next reason is he was willing to put himself in danger to free the slaves. He bought 1,000 pikes to give to the slaves so they could protect themselves. Proof of this is,”To arm slaves and spark a slave revolt”(Document C). This shows that the pikes were for the slaves and for them to protect themselves. The reason this was a huge danger is if they found who bought these pikes they would have been hanged. The owner that sold these pikes was hanged. My last reason is he tried to lie to the slaves so he could free more because he was on trial for treason.
