Tulane University’s antique, yet coming-of-age architecture, smiling students of glee and gusto, and commitment to the call to service together establish a unique microcosm of the grand ideal, of what the world could be. In Tulane, I see a rigorous, beautiful, opportunistic, optimistic, and emancipated education. On the foundation of these descriptors lies the specific reasons that Tulane personally calls to me: Opportunities in the field of service; expansive, inclusive, and diverse educational program; and a uniquely rigorous, yet frolicsome student body. To serve is to sing one’s blessings to the world, and I dream of being that voice. Through Tulane’s global programs such as the Global Service League, Tulane for UNICEF, Global Brigades, and more, the opportunity to explore the wide expanse of cultures and contributions in the world is absolutely available at Tulane. I am confident that a school with the resources and expertise of Tulane can send me to the places I want to go, teach me about those places not in brief, but in thorough and deep immersion, and lay the foundation for future service. According to Tulane alumni, many students at Tulane choose to double or even triple major because of the school’s less restrictive requirements for classes. Most other high-quality institutions such as the University of Chicago and Princeton University are much more strenuous on core classes and other requirement. Furthermore, certain unique and school-funded academic tracks such as the Altman Scholar Program for students are present at Tulane which are not present or promoted at even some Ivy League
