I am writing this statement because it has been a goal of mine to attend the University of Chicago for a Master’s in Business Administration. I believe that this program will further develop the skills I have learned in the agricultural sector as well as my critical thinking ability to solve and manage issues within today's changing agribusiness field.
I have always had an interest in business. When people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I would always say a businesswoman, it varied occasionally from a CEO to a Stockbroker, I knew from a young age that I wanted to work in business. Then I found the Department of Food and Resource Economics. I instantly became infatuated with my studies and not only strived to succeed but thrived in the environment. I had mentors for my career path in marketing and management. These mentors invited me to come to some of the largest conferences in the southeast for my interested profession as they saw the potential for my career in the industry. Through these connections I have learned about the issues that are being faced by the agricultural sector. Many of these issues concern their business practices such as production issues, marketing, data analytics, and trade. For example, I have discussed the issues and possible solutions for the current H-2A programs with some of the leaders in the agricultural industry who are working with congress on setting up the H-2C program. As a student, I have interned with Raftelis as a data analysis on water usage. I worked on a team to collect data and write the analysis report on the usage of public fresh water in central Florida. Having immense exposure to the discussion on policy change and impending global issues allows knowledge of these discussions in the classroom and can encourage further discussion on possible solutions. I am driven as a student to absorb information and new ideas to develop solutions and keeping my potential growing for myself, the agricultural industry and for
