Abortion is considered murder by many, but don't women deserve a choice? Abortion has been a very controversial topic this election season. One one hand many people believe that it is murder and murder is illegal. The other side is that women deserve a choice on this life changing event. I believe that keeping abortion legal will provide many benefits: no babies with life threatening medical conditions will be born, even if we ban it women will seek out dangerous illegal abortion, and it prevents unwanted children from child neglect.
The first reason is that when a woman is pregnant if the baby has a dangerous medical condition the parents may not be emotionally or financially ready to have a baby that will be that much extra work especially if it is their first child. As said by Hinders “For a couple who is actively trying to conceive, finding out their baby will be born with a serious birth defect can be a devastating experience” (“Medical Reasons for Abortion”). This shows that many young, new parents would struggle with something like this happening. Also, if the parents don't have the financial stability to pay for all the medical procedures their child may need it could end up dying anyway. This could cause medical problems for the woman. Therefore “Prohibiting abortions does not stop abortions, women would simply seek out abortions via illegal means which are unsafe and illegal, so it is better to provide women with a safe and legal ways to do an abortion” (“Why Abortion Should be Legal”). This is important because our laws are supposed to protect the citizens. If we ban abortion we are essentially putting thousands of women at a health risk due to unsafe medical procedures. Thus, banning abortion won't stop it so it is better to do it
