The author shares her individual social, political, and cultural belief systems. Robyn Harris (2017) says, “An individual’s beliefs influence diversity and culture in the workplace”. I found this article enlightening and a nice approach to how embracing diversity can contribute to a healthy workspace.

This article discusses the overall perspective from four large companies with managing diversity through flexible work arrangements (FWA). There was a thorough review of the implementation process for FWA which consisted of evaluating potential impacts from the management companies. Some impacts of FWA included retention aspects for maintaining a diverse talent pool, influence of employee job characteristics, career development, employee availability, and manager control mechanisms (Michielsens, Bingham, & Clarke, 2013). The article concluded that using FWA for managing diversity was unfavorable for these companies. I found this article interesting because of the perspective from these companies compared to today’s companies that are in support of FWA. This article focuses on the importance of managing diversity within the workplace by building a strong business case. The author clearly discusses how making diversity a priority can be linked to organizational performance. There are many positive factors that contribute to effectively managing diversity within the workplace. For example, diversity can drive business growth, improve consumer marketplace perception, increase creativity, and innovation (Robinson & Dechant, 1997). This article is a good source that can be used to support a future academic paper topic on diversity.
