The idea of marijuana has always been negative no matter how much research has been surfaced. Versus all the other types of drugs on Earth, marijuana is one of the safest and most beneficial drugs that could be used. This drug has many uses such as being a medicine or a way to bring in tons of revenue (especially for the states that have already legalized it). First, they believe that it can endanger the public’s safety. If someone is driving while under the influence of marijuana, their driving can still be impaired which could cause collisions. Next, opposers believe that the use of marijuana would increase too much. If marijuana is legalized, the prices of it would drop and it would be easier to access. This leads people to believe that after it is legalized that it may be used more than alcohol and cigarettes. Finally, the other side believes that the legalization of marijuana would be a negative influence on the younger generations. If it were to be legalized, younger people would most likely be eager to try it, but according to others, if they were to start using it at a young age it may not affect them in a positive way which could cause many problems for the new generation. While all of these are good claims as to why it should not be legalized, they can all be turned around to prove why it should be. Legalizing marijuana would not endanger the public’s safety because unlike others under the influence of alcohol, it does not make them do wild, non thought out decisions. Instead, they stay at home and just have other people do stuff for them. It also would not matter if marijuana was legalized or not--people are still going to use it. Just because it would be legalized does not mean it would change the amount of people that do it. Lastly, it would not change the influence it has on younger people anymore than it is now.
