Josh Shubin 3/31/15 Writ 340 Prof. Ramsey Walsh Construction Many compaines promise the world on their websites, making themselves appear to be the end all solution for a consumers need. One can expect that a company with a strongly worded mission statement would be a worthy company to invest in, wouldn't it? Taken from the homepage of their website, Walsh Group construction company's mission statement is as follows: The mission of The Walsh Group is to be the builder of choice for our customers; the employer of choice for our people; to set the highest standards for ethics, quality and safety; and to achieve a fair balance of responsibility, profitability and citizenship. For instance they require every employee to have their name on their hardhat, allowing for a more personal conversation between new employees, not to mention the fact that when the CEO's visit the jobsites, they too are going to be able to more personably interact with employees. In my experience working there, the people that were hired were all energized and happy to be working, making even doing the most mundane task interesting through conversations between employees or innovative ways of accomplishing the tasks. The company will also provide training for all employees, and will often pay for specialized training if the job task may require it. For example, Walsh pays for the LEED certification training for all its employees, along with paying for OSHA 30 safety training [5].
