1. The term vocation refers to a call from God, outside of oneself, to a life of holiness and service. As Catholics, we believe that everyone has their own particular vocation and that it is our holy duty to listen for this call and learn to exhibit it in our lives. As mentioned, everyone has a unique calling from God, ranging from a life of holiness, to being a married parent, or being single with a specific career relating to one’s vocation. I believe that vocation is a holy and sacred gift from God, in which we as human beings can be directed into a path that we will be most successful in, granted our God given talents and abilities. A successful path in life can be marked in many ways, however it should always be one that strives for service, and one that works towards making the world a better place. I believe that I have a calling of service to others, specifically in the area of professional health and wellness. I have already taken several steps in effort to realize my calling. Having recently applied to university, I made sure to apply to programs that are in line with the path that I intend to follow, and will help set me up for education I must pursue in order to follow my vocation. With the intent on perusing a heavy profession as a doctor, I realize the amount of work, time, and dedication it will take in order to stay on this path and meet my vocation. I feel if I believe that being a doctor is my true heavenly vocation, working hard and being dedicated should not be an issue. Over the next couple months I intend on continuing to research my vocation, as well as to participate in volunteer opportunities closely related, such as volunteering at a hospital. Volunteer opportunities that are related to my vocation will help me gain first-hand experience as well as further insight into the career I intend on
