We live in a competitive society where everyone always wants to be the best and take that glorious number 1 spot. Some people are born naturally smart and don't have to struggle or suffer to survive in our modern world. However, some of us aren't so lucky and are left handicapped for life whether we like it or not. My burden was and is a language disorder, discovered at the age of 5. This disorder made my studies and expressing myself very difficult and I realised that it would affect and impact my life in many ways. It was obvious that I was going to take maths for my A levels as all accountants have to be good with analysing and interpreting figures. I think that there is a similar concept between chemistry and accountancy. In accountancy, a balance sheet needs to be balanced and every debit needs to have a credit. Likewise, in chemistry, numbers of atoms are needed to be balanced on each side for the reaction from reactants to compounds. Personally, I felt that my strengths and weaknesses were put to the test when planning and organising our expedition in advance. I believe that in the future, this will help me with time management when studying or working and will also help me with my organisation skills. Overall, this course led me to have better communication, teamwork, problem solving, leadership and orienteering skills and it even raised my self confidence. In addition I also tutored math to students who were struggling. I have done this for a year and hope to do it for another as it was a satisfying experience.
