SHEILA OBASOYEN K101 TMA01 1. Why did you decide to study K101? I choose to study K101 for so many reasons, I being a mother and a care worker,and also growing up in Africa where there was less healthcare workers and care services,and we had to travel miles to get to the hospital for healthcare. This made me have the passion of how to participate in delivering quality healthcare to everyone. So, I decided to take up a career where caring for people most especially children is most paramount. Because my job as a care worker requires me to have Some of this skill to work in the healthcare sector, over the years I acquired some of these skills. In health and social care effective communication is a key skill all professionals should have when working with families, carers, children and young people. Having this skill helps to build trust it can also encourage the individual to use the services. Effective communication is essential when trying to establish and maintain relationships and it is a process that involves listening, questioning, responding and understanding. Communicating with people has made me to work out what their body language might mean,and understand what they want. I have come to understand that when you communicate with people, you make them feel important, and then, you can gain their trust. Record keeping is important because as a care worker, you have to record relevant information about the condition of a patient at any time, measures the care worker has taken in response to the patients needs, the arrangements the care worker has made for the continuing care of a patient or client. My role as a care worker also include problem solving, being able to listen to service users and their families and allow them to talk freely and openly. I have learnt the ability to work well within a team and the importance of working in partnership with other agencies such as doctors, nurses and occupational therapists. Because I have dyslexia, I find it difficult to read, write and spell. I am always scared of committing plagiarism that is why i spend weeks to study and write my essay so i can write and avoid
