Brrring! The bell rings and the halls are filled with nostalgic seniors, tired juniors, bored sophomores, and loud, boisterous freshman. The first year of high school is a wild, sometimes stressful, and overall chaotic time in anyone’s life. Most are not prepared for their freshman year of high school, but there are several things you can do to make your first year your best year. Freshman here at Maconaquah High School should pay attention, turn everything in, and ask questions to become successful students.
To begin your successful year, freshman should always pay attention. Paying attention is class is your number one job in school, and it’s important. I remember a time when I was sitting in math class. We were talking about addition, and I let my mind wander off. I stopped paying attention again and suddenly the teacher was talking about ‘negative b plus or minus the square root of b squared minus four a c over two a.’ Yeah, I was confused too. Every assignment is important. Not only can you pass your classes if you can turn everything, but there are several perks that come with turning everything in. First, teachers know how to help you further when you turn assignments in. This way they know if you are understanding the curriculum, and if you need help. Without turning assignments in teachers do not know if you have learned anything. On the other hand, turning your work in, even if it is not all done, or even if everything is not right, you still will get points. I know that in one of my classes if I set up the problem, but don’t have it done I’ll still get points for correctly setting up the problem. Lastly, if you have missing assignments you could get academic probation. This means you cannot go to after school events like sporting events, dances, or club
