Interprofessional collaborative practice rests on four basic principles called competencies. The four core competencies structure the curriculum and preparedness of healthcare professionals in the workplace, The competencies are Value and ethics Maintaining values and ethics while working with professionals of various backgrounds, respecting and sharing their value and explicit maintenance of mutual respect and shared values. Roles and Responsibilities: Clear understanding of the different roles and tasks of the team members and understanding one’s own and one’s partners’ roles and responsibilities in meeting individual patient and population health needs. Interprofessional communication effectively communicates with coworkers, team members, patients, and their families, Communication with broad partners in health and other fields supports a team approach and helps to ensure timely responses to the promotion and maintenance of health and the prevention and treatment of disease. Teamwork is working in a team, sharing values, and efficiently using resources, applying relationship-building values and principles of team dynamics to effectively plan, deliver, and evaluate patient/population-centered care and population health programs and policies that are safe, timely, efficient, effective, and equitable.
