JMU Personal Statement

I chose to apply to JMU because I found after visiting their campus and hearing about their program that JMU is much more than simply further education. Instead they embody learning that goes beyond education, and prepares its students to become impactful individuals and make lasting relationships. At JMU I truly believe that the university will allow me to learn, achieve and grow as an individual, and will prepare me to lead a productive and meaningful life. At JMU I will be learning how to make a difference and having a positive impact on the world through my actions. A meaningful life, in my opinion, is a life that not only is lead by one’s morals and desires, but is a life that positively impacts and influences others to have a better life with that meaning. This is significant because many schools can provide students with the skills necessary to become successful businessmen and businesswomen, but JMU goes beyond in its education. Not only does JMU educate its student on how to start or further a successful business, but they provide their students with the knowledge and skills to make their business impactful. JMU’s engaged learning creates careers by positively influencing communities and the world. At JMU I would pursue my interest in management and marketing, and I would be able to take that focus with my knowledge, and improve the lives of others. I currently am operating a small business called Seal Team Sports with my friends in high-school. We write articles on current sports news, design and sell sports related t-shirts, and we use our business to make a positive impact in the lives of military members.
