Jeffrey Dahmer’s Serial Killer Portfolio According to BuzzFeed, the average American will encounter sixteen murderers in their lifetime (Kopsky). Many murderers hide in plain sight; they could be friends, neighbors, or even a local bartender. Homicides are discovered each day in the United States, but the question remains, “Was this the act of a serial killer?” Jeffrey Dahmer was a killer who hid in plain sight. Dahmer, nicknamed the “Milwaukee Cannibal,” was an American serial killer who resided in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dahmer was known to rape, mutilate, and consume his victims; when compared to most killers, Jeffrey Dahmer is a saint.

Dahmer's life of crime would stay dormant for a few years. In August of 1986, Dahmer was arrested for disorderly conduct after exposing himself and masturbating in front of two younger boys. His sentence was probation and counseling: another slap on the wrist. In August of 1988, Dahmer's grandmother kicked him out, so he moved into a one-bedroom apartment. In September, Dahmer met a young boy named Keison Sinthasomphone. Inside his apartment, Dahmer incapacitated the boy and sexually assaulted him. Sinthasomphone managed to escape Dahmer and find the police. Dahmer was convicted of “second-degree” sexual assault and sentenced to twelve months of jail time with five years probation. Dahmer was granted work release, and his twelve-month sentence was cut short on parole
