Law as a career has fascinated me from high school, the black and white robe worn by lawyers was admired as a child growing up in Nigeria. l used to believe in horoscopes and being born under the zodiac sign Libra, l always believed that its Zodiac symbol of the Scales was my calling. However, I could not further this ambition because the fanatical religious sect my parents were members of at the time saw lawyers as liars and a career route not for Christians and that killed my ambition.
I choose the Foundation Year option because I have been out of education for a while. Returning to education as a matured student, especially to a competitive degree as law, will pose challenges. But I do believe in my ability to achieve highly. Life experiences …show more content…

My experience in the finance department of a fashion home made me highly numerate and used to copious amounts of responsibility as an individual and as part of a team. I am conscientious, hard-working and hugely enthusiastic. I like developing rational arguments, and always try having a clear understanding of the facts so as to be able to negotiate issues and solve problems.
Studying law means that I can train to become a solicitor and I can use my skills to help others. I excel in advisory positions where I am able to help others. I particularly would enjoy Contract law which covers issues that everyday people encounter, such as the Sale of Goods Act and Breach of Contract and also the ever thrilling Criminal law.
I am one of the directors of a Nigeria-based NGO (FIGHT ABUSE) that supports and stand for abused girls and women. We follow up and give legal advice and assistance to abused female who boldly come out to fight their abuse. We try to get volunteer lawyers who represent them pro bono if they cannot afford a lawyer. Being a part of this NGO has demanded a significant degree of sustained commitment, integrity and competence, it has also afforded me the opportunity to develop administrative skills, computer literacy, and the ability to communicate ideas to people under a variety of circumstances.
