Buyers & Planners
Roles:
The role of the Buyers and Planners is to ensure that the correct product is available to the Edcon customer based on the customers need at the right place, at the right time and in line with KPI’s. Their role is also to ensure that customers’ needs are fulfilled in the most economical manner maximise Edcon’s top & bottom line.
Buyers and Planners are key stakeholders to me due to the process and systems that I support and enforce. This is to ensure that they deliver effectively, economically and in line with Edcon’s strategy and KPI’s. Without the Buyers & Planners buy in and support on systems and processes, I cannot drive and enforce international best practices in terms of Merchandising.
The Challenging Relationship
There is huge resistance to complying to signed of processes and systems from Merchants (buyers & planners). This is often due to a lack of knowledge as a result of poor training, development and change management from Business Partners (Executives). This change resistance results in poor and substandard execution of buying and planning activities to the detriment of Edcon’s bottom
