My Relationship With The Field Teachers And The GT Teacher

Outside of school, I have made a variety of commitments in different areas of my life. These include volunteering at different places, earning money, and other miscellaneous items.

First, I volunteer at DCIS at Fairmont, a couple of blocks away from DCIS. I have been doing this since sixth grade. In years past, I have helped with many different teachers. Many of them have been my younger sister’s (who attends Fairmont as a fourth grader) teachers. I have also developed a relationship with the ELD teachers and the GT teacher. I continue to work with them today. I do a variety of things including doing projects like making posters for their classrooms, or even helping the kids they are teaching. This has been a huge part of my after-school routine for many years. I volunteer at Fairmont for at least 3 hours a week. Many weeks it is more than that. I put about 30 minutes to an hour into this each week, because I have to balance it with my schoolwork and other commitments. This has really helped my time-management skills. In the summer, it was easy to have the time to put my full attention into my shop, but during school, I have to work to balance it with schoolwork. It also gives me an excuse to practice my drawing and hand lettering and improve in those areas of my life. While this has been a challenge, I know that it has been beneficial to me In addition to earning money through my Etsy shop, I babysit. I spend about 2 hours on this each week. Of course, some weeks I babysit more, some less. I have a consistent babysitting job every Wednesday after school. This has helped improve my leadership skills. Although I practice them every day at home, by being an older sibling, it is different being a leader to a child that I am not related
