Did you know that we have approximately 97 million people in America that are considered to be overweight or obese? Obesity is a condition of excess body fat which causes a high rate of individuals to suffer in our society. Obesity has been affecting younger children as well as older adults. When the individual’s body fat increases and continues to get worse the individual has a higher risk of developing diseases that are long-term such as heart failure, hypertension, gallbladder disease, osteoarthritis, and much more. In todays society it is considered relevant because more people are becoming over weight and experiencing many different types of health problems that are causing a fortune. While categorizing the different races, which were Black, Hispanic, White, and Asian statistics, we were able to figure out that Black and Hispanic adults are more towards the obese side than any other group. This is because the debate given was told that diet, exercise, and the environment are given a poor habit towards fast food and other unhealthy sources. Statistics also show that African Americans are able to consume up to 33% of fast food, which is more than Caucasians. The percentages that were calculated show that the obesity for African Americans has a 47.8% (women 56.6%, men 37.1%), which is the highest from all groups. As for gender men are in the much higher percentage from becoming obese rather than women. The last statistics given was income, and the statistics show that the poor would have a higher chance of being obese rather than the rich and studies show that the lower income people are likely to have higher amounts of calories consumed on a daily basis such as fast foods and deserts. As of todays population and society in the United States healthier food is much more expensive than foods that contain high calories and fat. As for the certain areas that are nearby for low-income individuals the restaurants and grocery stores don’t sell the healthy food needed to build a healthier
