In my life, I have made a life long commitment to being involved in swimming. I have been in swim team, Junior Lifeguard, and water polo. Through swimming, I have shaped my character and the person I am today. Without being able to swim, I wouldn’t be as disciplined, determined, and committed as I am today. Through my characteristics of being committed and dedicated, I am more than prepared for college.
I would like to join college because, throughout my life, I have dreamed of going to a 4-year institute. I never thought for a second I wouldn’t want to go to college. Starting in middle school, I failed 6th and 7th grade, and barely was able to pass and graduate 8th grade. But, in the beginning of high school, I finally woke up from the dream I was living in. I realized that college is just around the corner and that I need to really work hard for what I deserve. The 9th grade was a significant turning point in my life, I utilized tutoring whenever I didn’t understand the concepts in class, stayed extra hours after school, and I tried to plan, to the best of my ability, all my homework, tests, and projects. Overall, my grades in high school do not fully reflect my academic ability or potential because I know what I am capable of, but due to flaws in my characteristics that I am constantly trying to improve on, and adapt to, my grades right now, do not reflect all of my academic ability or potential.
Outside of my academic challenges, my family is constantly going through some type of financial struggle. In my years in high school, I have moved 3 times due to lack of money, and increase of det. My dad is the only one that works and money is and always is tight. I have moved to smaller and smaller houses to the point where my family moved in with my grandma, where I currently reside, because money was so tight, and the debt was so high. Early in the year of 2015, my Dad got a new, better job at Wal-mart, and our financial status isn’t
