There have been many things that have led to the decision for a major. One of the largest influences was taking the engineering classes, offered here at Marion High School. This piqued my interest in engineering in general, causing me to begin to explore the field more. I also went on a job shadow of Rockwell Collins where I learned more about Computer Engineering, and I started to find out that Computer Engineering wasn’t for me. Later on, I decided to apply for an Internship with Workplace Learning. I was chosen to go through the interview process, and was given the opportunity to go on an internship. I gained interest in vehicles with my dad once he and I started to watch car shows together. I was fascinated by the vehicles and instantly knew I wanted to do something with vehicles in my future. I often dream of owning a vehicle that will be worked on by my dad and me together. This has brought us together in a big way, and I don’t think my parents and I would have the relationship we have today if it wasn’t for learning about cars from my parents. This led to me being very excited once I learned about Industrial Engineering, and that I would be able to work with vehicles in this career path. My short-term goals are to attend the University of Iowa and study Industrial Engineering. I am dedicated towards this goal and have been making sure to take the classes offered here at Marion High School to get me prepared for what I will have to face in college. One of my long-term goals in my life is to be successful. This does not just include having the money to enjoy life, but be happy and wake up every day happy to go to my job, never wanting the day to end. I want to enjoy my life to the extents that I can, and going to college will help me to achieve the goals that I have set for myself. Another short-term goal that I have is to get a job that I enjoy to do when I get out of college. I would prefer this to be in the career that I studied for, but it’s always possible that it could be something that I like to do outside of what I studied. College is the path to getting my goals in life, and this scholarship opportunity will help me get to where I can achieve these
