I have a vision of the world, in which technology will serve both mankinds’ ever growing dependence for energy, and our planet's delicate ecosystems. I will be applying to the Chemical Engineering (CHEN) undergraduate program at Texas A&M University for the Fall 2016 semester. The passion I have for both chemistry and the art of engineering is the reason I have chosen to pursue a career in Chemical Engineering. Through a mastery of this field, I believe that I will be able to pursue my true passion of green energy development.

After completing my Associates in Business Administration at Northwest Vista, I found myself working for a construction company that specialized in waterproofing. Working hard to move up in the company, I was given the opportunity to work alongside a group of building engineers as they conducted an investigation on the materials used in the construction of the building. This is when I discovered my true passion in life; the engineering skills and knowledge of various materials they were using left an impression on me that I could not shake off. This diverse range of career options and the ability to contribute to society through technological innovation is why I am so attracted to my major. The classic historical example is the emergence of chemical engineering from the petroleum industry. As the market demand for crude oil rose, the development of material science and technology rose proportionally. The world’s growing need for energy has led to a vast amount of research and innovation over several fields in the last century alone. As an engineer, I want to live on the frontier between known and unknown in our world, innovating and pushing our understanding of the universe
