There is no value in life except what you choose to place upon it and no happiness in any place except what you bring to it yourself.” - Henry David Thoreau. Upon reading these words of wisdom, my mind begins to ponder my possibilities. It was at the moment when I read this that I decided to choose a career that best fits my capabilities, and in which I can best invest my energy. Therefore, I intend to pursue a career in business administration, because the strengths that i possess are those needed to succeed in this profession. I communicate and collaborate well with others, I can take on a leadership role as needed, I am willing to work hard, and I have excellent organization skills. All these assets will be utilized in my future career in business administration hopefully resulting in my happiness.
Growing up in a bilingual home, I spoke English to my peers, and Hebrew to my family. Being proficient in two languages allows me to interact with a wider range of people, as well as broadening my thinking. Having learned this, I was able to overcome many challenges that came my way. One particular obstacle that I overcame was moving from Brooklyn to Staten Island. Switching boroughs meant that I had to start my life all over again, however I saw this as an opportunity for a fresh start. When applying to my new high school as a junior, I was placed in an honors academy for the first time in all my school years. It took time and dedication, but I managed to catch up to the academic level of my current high school. In addition to keeping up with school work, I also had to create my new circle of friends.
