My interest in pursuing a Master’s degree at Hampton University for Environmental Science is a chief goal in my life. One which I’m ready to be fully committed to. After researching the program and requirements to graduate, I know I will not only gain new knowledge and experiences in the field, but I will be attending one of the best environmental science programs in the country. I am choosing a career in environmental science because I have always had a strong connection to nature and a strong desire to maintain and improve our resources in such a way that will guarantee sustainable use of our ecosystems while ensuring economic security. Furthermore, following years of concern about our environment, I want to affect change. Change in how we view our ecosystems. Lastly, there is a growing global concern about the rising global temperature and coincidental effects of global climate change. Research has produced viable solutions which attempt to limit if not effectively resolve some environmental issues while others remain a challenge. Governments and world leaders are begrudgingly acting on scientific research presented to them. This all sounds promising yet over the past few decades, scientific research has come under attack from self interest groups and paid scientists who refute research results. The culmination of which increases the need to mitigate through the proverbial red tape. Changes in the way we think about our environment is greatly needed. Possessing an advanced degree places me closer to assisting the world to recognize and eliminate the problems which continue to plague our society
