There are about 205,000 people who work as a nurse practitioner in the US. I do not know about you, but I would like to make the number increase up to 205,001. For many young girls, like myself, want to help save lives and we don’t even have to save their life but just help them. This is why a nurse practitioner would be the best job too have. They don’t do major surgeries or anything like that but they do help just enough to keep someone healthy.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a very important job in the medical field. An LPN is a nurse that provides care for many different varieties of patients. These patients include children, adults, and the elderly. An LPN works as a doctor or a Registered Nurse (RN).
As a recent graduate from Human and Social Sciences of Fayetteville State University with a Bachelor of Science in psychology, I am elated to apply for admission to the graduate program for the Master of Arts in psychology. I am a dedicated psychology graduate with experience working in a clinical setting and addressing behavioral and emotional needs of youth in a residential and school based setting. Through my work as a student at this prestigious university, I plan on gaining the skills and knowledge needed to become a successful clinical psychologist to serve the inner city demographic and help adolescents reach their highest potential in life skills and wellness goals. I aspire to be a registered nurse. My passion to pursue this profession has led me to continuously pursue opportunities that prepare me for the rigorous path of earning a nursing degree. I enrolled in Bayside High School’s Health Sciences Academy; its challenging curriculum has led me to gain insight on anatomy, physiology, and forensic medicine. In addition to this, I volunteered in medical settings, such as Sentara Leigh Hospital and Beth Sholom Village’s Nursing and Long Term Care Facilities. I also became familiar with their role in patient care and learned how they interact with other medical personnel.
Nursing is something I really enjoy doing. I love to take care of older people and helping people with their daily needs because I love being around my older generation. I’m very respectful when it comes to my older people. I’m always on time and I love to get the job done on time and in an orderly manner. This is why I think I would be a great registered nurse.
I have always had a passion for furthering my education, and in the nursing field there are many opportunities to do that. As a recent inpatient, I was able to connect with my nurses and find a perfect connection between my love for people and the career itself. However, in my care I noticed that people were not always walking out of the hospital with the confidence that I wanted them to. When I become a registered nurse, I am confident that I will make a difference in the nursing environment so that patients are able to leave the institution stronger than they came in. I am also interested in pursuing a Master’s degree in order to become a nurse midwife.
You walk in the door, you see wheelchairs, walkers, and canes everywhere in a quiet lobby with seniors that are resting their eyes, chit chatting or just watching the world go by. This is what I experience every Friday, since the summer of 2015, at Alden of Waterford healthcare facility. This experience is where my passion has grown to become a nurse, and where I have decided to improve healthcare by trying to give individual and necessary resources to as many people as possible. Since I have been attending this home, I have gained an abundance of knowledge about my self-concept.
No perfect moment intervened, it was a gradual realization that nursing is a perfect career for me. I had the opportunity to meet some of the healthcare professionals who inspired me in developing my nursing skills, and I hope that one day I will equal their diligence, passion, and skills. But my main source of inspiration in becoming a nurse is from my innate desire to assist people and offer care and support. Also, I am the type of individual that thrives on being challenged, and I always have new goals to attain. Therefore nursing suits me.
Since I was toddler I’ve always been told that I had a distinctive nurturing nature. My mother told me that about around the age of two if I were to go somewhere and someone was the give me something she said I would always say, “May I have some for my sissy's(sisters).” Think this characteristic as well as an outgoing and positive personality lead me to want to explore careers such as pediatrics, nursing, and social work. When I first enrolled in college I thought a wanted to pursue a career in nursing, very reluctant to say, I did not do my research on the field and was ill prepared for it.
Participating in the Explore nursing summer program would be a huge dream come true. However, not only participating in the program but, also having a desire to obtain a variety of information and a deeper understanding over nursing. In addition, I am looking forward in being taught over several nursing skills such as clinical training and simultaneously have an idea in participating form a perspective view of a nurse. I personally expect in getting the opportunity by having a hands-on moreover in having an eye opener over how a hospital works. Learning more about clinical training along with hands-on opportunities will help me in becoming a future nurse.
Personal Statement My professional goal is to attend college at the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus to take a 4-year degree in Nursing. I chose this career because this is what I always dreamed of to be since I was young. Every time we visited the doctor’s office, I was always amazed of how the nurse is dressed in white and how skillful she was in helping the doctor. Whenever I have a doctor’s appointment, I would observe how the nurse would check my weight and height, my pulse, my blood pressure, and my temperature.
Ever since I was little I have wanted to become a nurse. I think that nurses are the backbone to the healthcare system, without nurse’s doctors wouldn’t be able to do their job. Nurses do a little bit of everything, from taking vitals to recording and treating symptoms. There has been a high demand for nurses lately that will likely keep growing. By becoming a nurse there will always be an abundance of job opportunities.
Nurses play a vital role in the healthcare system as a patient advocate. Many times patients have never been in a hospital setting and it can be overwhelming, they do not know what to ask for or how to ask for it. Besides the nursing assistant, nurses spend the most time with a patient and therefore they are more acutely aware of the patient’s needs. Nurses act as a liaison between the patient, family, and the rest of the healthcare team. Question 2 When we are little we all have aspirations of what we want to be when we grow up.
Teaching and nursing are two careers that equally appeal to me. I am drawn to both, and have a strong family history in both lines of work. Unsure which profession I want to ultimately work towards after high school, I set out to find an answer. My goal was to use my senior project as a tool to help me decide between the two. Being more familiar with nursing, I thought it would be a great idea to gain more experience in the world of teaching, and I could not have chosen a better project!
I was so interested in educating mothers about the childhood disease that I found it necessary to join the Nigerian Red Cross Society and the National Program on Immunizations. These organizations exposed me to the reality that there is shortage of staff within the healthcare system and a gap existing between the clients and the health care team. Other prevailing issues arising within the healthcare system have its root embedded in these fundamentals. Our team members conducted a survey that lead to the conclusion that individuals, communities and the nation as a whole consist of different ethnic groups, races with different educational levels.
