From the day I saw the news of the September 11 attacks on television, I always think that why people cannot accept each other and stop hurting each other. As I get older, I also started to pay attention to other issues, such as Human rights, Gender equality, Hunger, International security, Terrorism, Nuclear weapons, and more. While I was at LaGuardia Community College, I realized that these issues are interconnected with a variety of other issues. Therefore, my academic goals is to have various education, such as economic, international law, media, social science, cultures and languages, and politics to have deeper understandings of those issues and to derive the solutions. Which will then enable me to apply for global positions such as the Japanese embassy in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or other government offices that would like to work with the Japanese government. I am a novice to Global Studies and even more unaware of all global issues. I could imagine that The New School would give me a better education and understandings of the global issues by teaching me the traditional lessons with a modern way of understanding and solving these issues. I believe that The New School gives me the opportunity to make my education field wider because I can learn from other departments. I am able to learn from other students and professors, for example, who are in media, design, and politics. Additionally, studying at The New School will help me to achieve my professional goals by not only taking classes with many materials from the professors, but also giving me places to learn outside of the classes. I could think of being a part of school activities that relate with recent movements and issues in the society make me fell more connected and be part of global issues. Furthermore, the activities would give me a place to demonstrate what I have leaned from the class.
