Legalizing Marijuana Growing up, everyone is told that, “Drugs are bad for you,” time and time again. In today’s society, legalizing marijuana, a naturally found plant legalizing marijuana has been a hot topic of conversation in the United States. Marijuana has been legalized in numerous states, such as Colorado, California, Oregon, and Washington already. Some states, such as New Jersey, have been putting up a fight to legalize marijuana. Legalizing marijuana will benefit society from a few standpoints; monetary, safety, and employment. First of all, legal or not, marijuana finds its way into the United States of America via the drug cartel. If it is going to be here already, why not make money off this drug? Legalizing marijuana would kick the dealers off the street, and bring money back to the government. It is known that marijuana is all around, and nearly anyone can get access to it. When buying from a random dealer, there is a chance that batch of weed could have other things laced within it. Some other drugs that could be mixed into it could be cocaine, meth, and or synthetic marijuana. This would be eliminated completely if legalized because there would be certain regulations set up, so the user actually knows what is bought. Dealers will also sell to anyone, no matter the age of the customer. If the customer has money, the dealer will have the drugs. If sold in stores, there could be an age requirement like twenty one years old like the alcohol and cigarettes. It is proven that crime rate will decrease in the communities. The police officers will be able to focus on actual criminals, rather than a group of teens who are causing no harm to anyone
