Leadership philosophy is a concept that changes with every person, place, and thing in which one is involved. When it comes to my own personal philosophy, the number one thing that comes out of it is character and discipline. Things like integrity, focus, and the ability to give and gain respect are things I find important. Leadership plays a crucial part in society as every job relies on a boss, every team relies on a coach, and every kid relies on a parent, and these are all roles where leadership is needed. In Tim Grover's book "Relentless," he introduces three types of people or leaders. The coolers, the closers, and finally the cleaners. The whole book goes into telling you about the cleaner. It is the art and ability to guide individuals or groups towards a common goal or vision. It involves being able to influence others to achieve specific objectives by motivating, inspiring, and giving direction. Creating trust and good collaboration along the way to the end goal of a mission or task put at hand. Some key attributes that I find useful when it comes to leadership are integrity, empathy, communication skills, determination, accountability, and the ability to inspire others. Integrity is very important because it starts to build trust, while empathy allows a leader to fully understand and connect with the members of whatever team they are in. The ability to communicate effectively plays a large role in getting a task done effectively. Naturally, a good leader is able to communicate effectively. Taking responsibility for your own actions is something I find very respectable and a good show of character, so for me, it is very important. Determination and discipline are also important.
