Professional Code of Ethics As a future school counselor, I believe that all students can learn and be successful. There are different styles of learning, which it is necessary for students to discover which type of learn best fit them in order to expand their horizons. Students may come with strengths and weaknesses and my intentions as a future school counselor is to help them focus on their strengths. With this, students will be able to learn skills needed to learn how to minimize any barriers they encounter during their school years. I firmly believe that regardless of the student’s cultural, beliefs, or values, they are all entitled to a proper education. It is important for me to understand each students’ beliefs by developing cultural awareness in myself. This will allow me to understand the students regardless of their background and provide them with quality services. In addition, I believe that bringing more awareness to those first-year generations by working in collaboration with their families will make a difference in the student’s post-secondary years regardless if college, vocational, Military, or workforce is a choice of path. The students’ needs are changing throughout the years and in order to assist them during their educational years, it is valuable for schools to have a complete multidisciplinary educational team, which consist of school counselors, social workers, psychologist, educators and administrators.
