Teaching Philosophy Statement

I believe that teaching should be student-centered, helpful, and memorable for the student. The goal of teaching is not for the teacher to be remembered, but for the content to be and when a student looks back on the class he or she will remember the lessons they learned and the importance of that material. Teaching should be student-centered because the student is whom the teacher is doing it for. If the teaching is focused on the student then they will develop a life long love of learning that will truly benefit them unlike memorizing facts to regurgitate on a test. I chose to be a teacher because of a want to help other people. I know I could have chosen a number of other professions that fit that category, but teaching is by far the most fulfilling thing I have ever done. It gives me that sense of pride I do not get from anything else because I know if I have done my job right then a student leaving my class will want to learn and not be forced to. I want to be a teacher because too many students are forced to learn because subpar teachers are in the classroom because they fell into it, but education needs teachers that care and want the best for students. I need to be a teacher because I care about the students learning and well-being. …show more content…

I want to ask questions that lead students to think about themselves as a person and not just the grade they will receive. I want learning to go from answering a question to asking their own questions since learning is all about growing more knowledgeable about the world and the individual. I plan on using every available resource to allow my students to get the most out of their time in my class. I believe that by putting forth the effort to care about my students then they will put more effort into their studies thus leading to a better learning
