I can remember to this day when I was younger, and every day that I went to school, I would admire my teachers and all their hard work. I told myself all the time, that in the future, that would be me. I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. I knew I wanted to be hardworking, selfless, and dedicated in my future career, and to me that is exactly what an educator is. I strive to be a teacher that inspires others to love learning as much as I do and also to create a welcoming learning environment in which my students can thrive. I know I also need to be a teacher who can take standards and strategies and do the most I can with them to benefit my students. The Valdosta State University Dewar College of Education and Human Services Conceptual Framework: Guided Principles, also known as DEPOSITS, are a perfect example of how to take guidelines and apply them in the classroom. DEPOSITS consist of dispositions, equity, process, ownership, support, impact, technology, and standards. Disposition, a person’s inherent quality of mind, has a huge impact on a learner’s growth. All students, no matter their race, gender, religion, or socioeconomic status, deserve a high quality education. As a teacher, one’s classroom needs to be a positive learning environment for all. A teacher’s attitude portrays a lot of information, whether she realizes it or not.
