I help to strengthen and improve the teaching profession by respecting others. This includes students, parents, and fellow teachers/administrators. Respect is important in order to continue to grow professionally and to better achieve goals that make a child succeed. If one child succeeds then everyone wins. A way to show respect goes back to one of my strengths, communication. It is important to communicate with colleagues and administrators to have a dialogue of issues facing our students and campus. In the process one must be flexible to the opinions of others whose same goal is to benefit the student. We may not start on the same page but we can definitely find common ground. So, communication provides the opportunity to collaborate in the discussion and planning of issues. As a teacher, I must always be aware of learning from the experience of others who have faced similar situations as mine and seek their input to help me. I am aware that not every school year is the same. That the upcoming school year might bring new and bigger challenges but it won’t be impossible to overcome those struggles. It is why I feel it is important to try new teaching strategies in which students will benefit instead of always making the excuse that it worked last school year why not this year. I’m afraid that this attitude is what kills the love in teaching. I must learn to be innovative in my teaching approach and research on new resources for our campus or participate in trainings that will build and strengthen my knowledge. Most important make each lesson/activity meaningful for the student to appreciate the purpose of having an education. That they don’t feel incapable of confronting the struggles presented by the real world upon completing their years in public
