I have been interested in pursuing a career in Primary Education for a short time, however it has been a time of determination to achieve my goal of becoming a teacher. There are many reasons why a career in primary school teaching appeals to me. I enjoy interacting with children, and understanding how they learn, develop and see the world. The idea of playing a large role in helping children to learn and understand, and seeing them develop their skills over a year greatly appeals to me. I enjoy the idea of being able to help them learn and discover new things. It is a great challenge attempting to teach children a new concept, and I am prepared to take that challenge. I currently volunteer one day a week in a primary school for a mixed year 3 and 4 class, which I will continue to do throughout the school year. During my time in this class so far, I have found it extremely rewarding to see the look of joy on a child’s face as they finish a piece of work that they may have been struggling with, or took part in a class activity on a subject that may not be their strength, knowing I had helped them build their confidence to do so. The ongoing experience I am gaining from this has allowed me to interact with a whole class of children, of varying ages, across a range of different backgrounds and ability levels. A large part of my role involves ensuring all the children are understanding the tasks they are given in lessons, although other roles I play are helping teachers with delivering lessons and managing and maintaining a classroom as well as learning how to perform admin work. My work at the primary school has taught me multiple things, especially skills such as patience and keeping calm, as well as greatly improving my confidence. As there is a demand for male primary education students, I believe I am a perfect candidate for a course in the subject being a determined young man with interest in the
