Technology Integration Lesson Plan Brittany C.M. Mason University of Nevada Las Vegas Introduction This lesson was designed for my fourth period class which is accelerated reading. At my junior high school students take computers in sixth grade; So they are fairly computer literate. We are currently reading Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt. I needed an activity that not only helped review for our chapters five through eight quiz, but also allowed for my students to be creative. I felt that it was only natural to incorporate technology. I had my students create a bubble map reviewing the chapters, using bubbl.us, prior to taking the quiz which I created using Google Forms. Assessment: The bubble maps will be examined for the main events in each chapter, while their exam is based on how many questions they answered correctly. Evaluation Who did you have attempt the activity and how do they compare to the target population? I had my fourth period class, accelerated reading complete this activity. Although they are a great group of kids they did run into some difficulty. The main issue was that they did not know exactly how to organize a summary into a bubble map. They were pretty quick at figuring out how to use the site and navigating, but organization was a big problem. another problem I encountered is that my students wanted to play with changing the color of the text and background instead of spending their time wisely on the actual content of the summary. The duration of time was what I expected with the exception of the presentations. I had to stop presentations early, resulting in not everyone getting to share. Next time I do an activity like this I will have my students do a powerpoint or some other representation of a text as a bubble map proved to be challenging. The actual quiz via Google forms
