UTEP has long been a second home for me. I have spent much of my life on campus, finding appreciation for an academic environment. Seeing my family teaching and working here began to develop my desire to become a professor. My mentors have only pushed this dream further, aiding me to succeed in my career choice. The university has prepared me beyond what I expected for an undergraduate degree. I would not be where I am today without being a proud Miner.
Higher education is a constant in my life. My grandfather taught at UTEP, while my parents worked at campus offices. I followed in their footsteps when I started as a volunteer for the P3 Kidz on Campus program. During my volunteer time, I realized that I truly enjoy teaching. This experience was the foundation of my career choice to become a professor, through which I could continue to inspire students to follow their passions.
The university has also guided my pursuit of a degree in engineering. I had long known I had a passion for engineering, as I do not remember a time when I did not want to build things. While I knew what I wanted to do with my life, I never thought I would get as far as I have. My mentors and colleagues at UTEP have pushed me to be the best version of myself

E-Lead is a unique program showing me what it is like to be in the engineering workforce. Through extensive presentation practice, I can speak effectively in front of a group. I can communicate a topic to people with various levels of knowledge in a manner that makes it easy to understand. I have also experienced what it is like to manage a project, combining engineering skillsets with people relations. These are skills that I would not have excelled in without the passion of the E-Lead professors to help their students grow in every aspect of
