Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) has influenced me in many ways. First, it was the school's amazing nursing program. The school of nursing was established in 1953 and it awards undergraduates the bachelor of science degree. WSSU’s nursing program was ranked number 3 in the nation, and is continuing to grow and enhance the program. I have been given the chance to get into the nursing program, with the help from the Guaranteed Admission Program (GAP).
For as long as I can remember, I ve wanted to be a nurse. Helping people and seeing a good outcome from it has always been a dream of mine, it started when I was younger I saw my mom and grandma helping different people and nurturing them. Seeing how these people would smile and thank my family for helping them inspired me to choose this career. I love how even the uniform color could put a smile on a patient's face, or even simple things such as just seeing their caregiver. There was once a time when my grandma took me to work with her and although I didn t get to do much, just seeing the workers doing their best and putting their all into the job made me happy and very appreciative of them.
I have always been involved beyond the classroom with the schools I attend. I attended King Kekaulike High School in Maui. My freshman year, I was an active member in Interact club, a local service club. I was also on the junior varsity volleyball team and the girls varsity soccer team. I was the team captain for the girls varsity soccer team at KKHS both my junior and senior year.
Going to Barret Honors College at ASU would put me in a better position to be a global citizen. For the past four years, I have developed my programming and engineering skills by studying in my high school’s Computer Science and Electrical Engineering (CSEE) program. Though I value the engineering skills I have developed in CSEE, I am most grateful for the opportunity to work as a teacher’s assistant during CSEE’s Summer Robotics Program. CSEE’s Summer Robotics Program is a class designed to introduce and foster an appreciation for engineering in underrepresented middle school students. During class, I would help my teacher teach classes, answer questions, and assist students in their lab work.
Learning and Scholarship are critical values to all students, but throughout my time at ISU, I have gained a much deeper appreciation for the idea of being a lifelong learner. The programs for Special Education at ISU are some of the best and have offered me more ways to learn than I originally thought imaginable, and have inspired me to explore my educational possibilities in the future. Through my clinical experiences, coursework, and experiences outside of the classroom, I have gained a deeper appreciation for what it means to work in special education. I have decided that I will get a Masters in School Counseling and work as an academic advisor for special education students. Through this path, I will be able to continue learning more and
Next fall I will be fresh out of high school and I hope to study at Indiana University, because IU has an excellent medical science program. This is why IU’s medical program is the best choice for my academic and career plans for the future. My academic plans as an undergraduate at Indiana University are to study medical laboratory science. I have chosen to study in medical laboratory science because I have always loved science and discovered that I wanted to pursue a future career in a medical lab while taking a course called the principles of biomedical science my junior year. Another major that major that Indiana University offers that interest me is scientific research; this major interest me because of the possibility of making a new discovery
While pursuing dual degrees in chemistry and French, I have discovered the indispensable value of a Liberal Arts education. I have had the privilege of receiving a comprehensive and well-rounded education at IUPUI by studying the sciences and humanities. The cross-disciplinary connections between the hard sciences and the arts have been nothing short of remarkable; gaining such an extensive perspective about the world in which we live has ignited a passion for both learning and life itself. It is my observation that my Liberal Arts education has benefited me academically, socially, and personally. Upon graduating from IUPUI, I will be receiving a Bachelor of Arts in French and a minor in philosophy from the School of Liberal Arts.
As a premier research university, University of Rochester is an ideal place for me to develop bench skills and gain experience in cutting edge experimental methods and processes. I am a double major in math and chemistry, and have exceptionally strong analytical skills as well as an ability to easily adapt to new research environments. Having an REU is an invaluable opportunity for me to come in ready to work hard, and in return continuously learn throughout the summer about the specific research I am conducting as well as general laboratory skills. Ultimately, the program will make me more aware of my own interests and prepare me for further chemistry studies. The laboratory experiences available to past REU students at Rochester target some
In addition to studying general chemistry, I can focus on how materials affect the environment, my ultimate goal. Furthermore, in order to complete liberal arts requirements, I will be able to complete courses outside of Engineering in Penn’s
Pre-AP Chemistry soon began my favorite class, rather than my least favorite as it had been during the beginning of the year, and I began to look forward to learning chemistry. At the end of the year, I was proud to receive an A for the second
I feel confident in my future plan for a couple reasons. First of all, the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology’s Introducing talk provided a great deal of information on the
I entered college quite unaware that the General Chemistry class I was required to take for my biology major would spark in me a strong interest in chemistry. A first-generation college student, I was a bit afraid and unsure of what to expect from this college-level science course in chemistry. Consequently, I devoted a great deal of time to studying and reading for this class, and began to realize how fascinating the science of chemistry is. I was intrigued by the way that the laws of nature are tied so closely with mathematics, and how chemistry is a fundamental science upon which the other sciences are built. While my General Chemistry class sparked my interest in chemistry, my Organic Chemistry class confirmed my love for the science.
I have a vision of the world, in which technology will serve both mankinds’ ever growing dependence for energy, and our planet's delicate ecosystems. I will be applying to the Chemical Engineering (CHEN) undergraduate program at Texas A&M University for the Fall 2016 semester. The passion I have for both chemistry and the art of engineering is the reason I have chosen to pursue a career in Chemical Engineering. Through a mastery of this field, I believe that I will be able to pursue my true passion of green energy development. After completing my Associates in Business Administration at Northwest Vista, I found myself working for a construction company that specialized in waterproofing.
Upon completing my AS studies I became the only remaining Chemistry student in my year group. While continuing to attend Gateacre to accomplish results in my other subjects, I am now commuting between Gateacre and another local school to ensure I can complete my Chemistry A2 course; as I am determined to succeed in this subject. I feel that Physics has encouraged me to develop my communication skills and logical thinking; Mathematics gave me problem solving and data manipulation techniques; whilst Geography enabled me to improve my essay writing abilities and data handling skills. These are the many transferable skills I have gained all of which are vital aspects of studying chemistry at
It was during my second year in highschool that I decided to take up the BS in Chemical Engineering program in college. What was I thinking back then? They say, us ChE students, maybe, were too young, too dumb to realize the nightmare that awaits us. Every single time I get to question myself why ChE, I try to go reflect on what was the main reason of me entering into this great of a challenge. I realized that from the very start I loved the environment.
