Standardized tests are something used to determine a student’s intelligence, but does it really? Standardized tests were created in 2002 by The No Child Left Behind Act which was created to give every child the same equal education. Which was an amazing idea, but what came with it was controversy with standardized testing. A lot of the time afterwards it makes them feel not smart. I believe that standardized testing is something that makes kids stress out more, especially after the scores are reported and if they’re bad. Therefore when it comes to taking the standardized test, the students don’t have time to prepare, so they might not do as best they could. Also there could be somethings on the test that there teachers have covered yet in class or hasn’t even taken that class. Then the student would have to completely guess on the problem and most likely get the problem wrong. The opposing argument say that standardized tests are a fair of showing a student abilities. There has been proof that standardized testing hasn’t help better U.S education and actually we lowered our scores.
