One of the main issues with America is its educational system and Common Core is only making the situation worse. The educational system has been very lacking in comparison to other countries. The government has tried to fix this. The first time it was the No Child Left Behind Act and that failed tremendously. After the No Child Left Behind Act failed, then the Common Core standards were created to do what the No Child Left Behind Act tried to do by standardizing all of the lessons they believe the students need to learn. However, the Common Core State Standards do not explain to the teachers how they are supposed to help the students that have difficulties. The vagueness of the standards leads the teachers to only be able to help the students by telling them the answer instead of them being able to understand the lessons themselves. The standards do not allow for much flexibility in lesson plans. the rigid workbooks don’t allow for much flexibility because they have very specific order of what to teach and how to teach the lessons. The standards don't give many options for plans because of how the teachers have to teach so many things so the have to teach the lessons quickly. To make matters worse the teachers don’t teach the standards to the level of proficiency that the standards require the teachers are punished for it. The standards are causing many schools to lose money. Some of the fees added by the common core are the costs to purchase tests or electronics that are used to test the standards. Then the schools have to purchase new textbooks and workbooks needed to teach the standards the way the state wants the schools to teach. The more expensive costs are new laptops and other electronics such as tablets needed for testing that requires to be
