Obesity seems to be a growing problem in America. It is embarrassing that we are such an intelligent nation yet can not seem to solve this issue. There needs to be a change in the way Americans live their lives. The steps for America to be healthy once again are first to be aware, change our diet, then get exercise. The solution to obesity is not going to happen all at once. With “one third of all adults and 17 percent of all children in the United States” being obese we must be aware of the situation (Martinac). Most Americans are unaware that this growing epidemic is in place. Educating ourselves is a very important factor. There are many life threatening diseases that are caused by obesity. Very few people know that obesity can cause “types of cancer, arthritis, sleep apnea, even infertility” (Neergaard, Agiesta). When people are aware of the possibilities that can occur, they are more likely to do something about it. That is why it is very important that Americans become aware of obesity. …show more content…

It is important to know that when first trying to lose weight, our bodies can not handle a drastic change in our lifestyle without having major withdrawals. Certain people “have more [of a] difficult time coping with the cravings and other psychological symptoms” while on a diet (Mental Health Daily). This means that if one is unable to stop their cravings and gets discouraged, they must realize that they need to change their diet at a slower pace. The diet consisting of the greatest results “is not from a calorie based diet but a fat resistance diet” (Galland). By following this diet, it helps level blood sugar and comes from natural foods that maintain your weight by also getting in all your necessities.
