As an administrator dedicated to the success of students, I am excited to apply for the position of Director of Student Diversity & Multicultural Affairs. Understanding that managing staff is not always easy or delivered the same for each individual, I have had to address difficult behavior, advocate for additional resources, reassign staff to better fit programs, and facilitate work within a hostile environment.
• Worked on three strategic planning/reorganization committees to evaluate programs and services of the Student Activities Office and the Dean of Students offices respectively. Through that process, I was able to advocate for Risk Assessment staff and Diversity and Inclusion staff.
• Accomplished leadership initiatives through collaboration with Athletics, Civic Engagement, Orientation, Fraternity & Sorority Life, as well as academic units such as Technology and Liberal Arts. I was able to facilitate a racial climate conversation with the leaders from the Purdue football team. That one meeting created an outlet for students for many years.
