Kiwanis Organization:

The Kiwanis International web page has a clear mission statement of, “serving the children of the world.” Furthering this statement, Kiwanis is located in nearly 96 nations with the same goals of helping their communities; however, each community is different making each Kiwanis organization unique in their own way. Nevertheless, a typical Kiwanis organization plans hands-on projects focusing on the needs of the community, such as helping the elderly, supporting youth sports, or promoting literacy. In addition to attending meetings, Kiwanis members volunteer about two hours every month for projects involving children or persons in need.

Currently the Whitewater Kiwanis Breakfast Club is made up of 40-50 members with a predominant age of upper sixties and low seventies. The members of the Whitewater Kiwanis Breakfast Club meet Tuesdays at 7 A.M. at a local Whitewater restaurant called Jessica’s. Typically meetings last about an hour and a newsletter is sent out by email informing all members of what was discussed in the meeting. However, outside information about the Whitewater Kiwanis Breakfast Club is not easy to come across. The Kiwanis Breakfast Club does not have an official website, instead they utilize a Facebook page. Their Facebook page has 72 followers and updates are very inconsistent and posts usually contain meeting information and upcoming events. The Whitewater Kiwanis Breakfast Club is barely featured in any local Whitewater Newspaper. Some examples of local newspapers they can be found in are The-Triangle and Gazette Extra. They have only been mentioned twice in the Royal Purple; however, these articles were not solely written about the Club itself and were issued over 1-2 years ago. Although, the Whitewater Kiwanis Breakfast Club sponsors many community projects, they are mostly known for three major campaigns. Those three campaigns include Pancake Day, Lilly Sales Day, which occurs around Easter time and Poinsettia Sales Day, which occurs in the months of November and
