Writing has never been my best friend, but I am on a journey to change that. Before any big writing assignment, I go through a great deal of stress. Although I do not have a specific process of writing, I do have several different stages I go through before writing. Even for this paper I went through those stages of panic and stress before I actually started writing. Additionally, I face many problems even while writing my essay, such as structure, introduction, transitional sentences, etc. Essentially I have problems with anything related to writing.

However, they have a tendency to make writing sound easier than it really is for me. Nevertheless, peer advice and editing has been a huge help for me in the writing I have done so far. It allows me to see my essay from another person’s point of view and see problems in my writing that I did not see before. It allows me to better assess my strengths and weaknesses.
Once all the stressful thoughts calm down a bit, I spend a good amount of time on the introduction, which is the hardest part for me to write. For some reason, introductions can be very overwhelming to me. I have learned that an introduction structures the essay, but I have trouble using the introduction to do that. I do not know what to include in the introduction to make sure all the main ideas from my essay are included in it. The most difficult is the thesis because I have to fit so much into just several sentences.
As for my body paragraphs, I have problems making the essay flow from one paragraph to the next. I have tried to fix the issue myself, however every time someone proofreads my essay they state that my essay lacks flow, but they rarely give me any helpful tips to fix the problem.
