Studying medicine will not only allow me to explore my enthusiasm for science but also enable me to apply priceless knowledge and skills to help people when they’re most in need. This alongside the guarantee that I will experience a lifetime of learning and overcoming challenges, draws me to this rewarding profession. Having witnessed how quickly someone can be overcome by an illness I have always had great respect for doctors for their compassion and modesty when drastically changing a patients life.
I am currently enjoying studying biology and chemistry due to how interesting and intellectually demanding they are. Chemistry has vastly improved my analytical skills, from reading and then interpreting graphs and spectrums of molecules, whilst biology allows me to explore the incredible intricacies of the human body. Learning about topics such as neural communication started my keen interest in researching neurology and the brain. I find the process of creating and storing memories fascinating and to further my understanding on this I undertook an online course on dementia.
