Gender inequality at the executive level of business is a recognized issue, yet women still disproportionately fail to attain high-level leadership positions. I am experiencing the reality of the dense glass ceiling at this stage in my career and am determined to break through the ranks by means of strategically placing myself in the pipeline of female talent. I am taking the steps necessary today to ensure my goal of becoming a charismatic and persuasive female leader. I want to become a leader who will promote collaboration by adopting a centered leadership philosophy that joins feminine archetypes with masculine archetype to improve the overall decision making process and increase innovation, while eliminating gender biases. I have learned to be an effective manager by mobilizing my team and deliberately instilling positive energy which results in a sustainable and high performing environment. I believe the values I established early on in my life set the stone for my altruistic nature and deep compassion for others wellbeing. I grew up in a financially challenged home with a young sixteen-year-old mother who raised our family of four on an annual income of fourteen thousand. We relied heavily on community support to help us meet some of our most basic needs. My mother quit school at the tender age of fifteen and naturally she was never able to help me with homework. College was never mentioned in my home growing up. Only with the support of teachers, school counsellors, community members, and friends was I inspired to continue my education past high school. I am the first person in my family to attend and graduate from college. Now I am aspiring to be the first person in my family to graduate with a Master’s degree. My education has been the pathway to breaking the multi-generational cycle of poverty for me and my family. Growing up in a disadvantaged home I recognized from a very early age that I had a long, hard journey ahead of me. When I reflect on how far I come from where I began I realize just how impossible it all seemed. Today, I am in a privileged position in my life where I can fund the continuation of my education which will help me become a leader
