California legalized marijuana for recreational use in 2016 to persons of twenty-one years of age or older. Since the law has passed many more people are using this drug, however is this good or bad. The legalization of recreational marijuana should be recalled because of the possible increase in birth defects, more addicts to marijuana, and more people experimenting with stronger and illegal drugs because marijuana is a gateway drug. One major default in legalizing recreational marijuana is the affect it will have on newborns. Since recreational marijuana is legal, than a pregnant woman may smoke marijuana if she pleases.
