The problem to most plans is that people have great ideas and good intentions, but no one has the power or motivation to put those plans in action. My plan of action includes three focuses. First is volunteers, second is weekly meetings, and the last is involvement in the church. During this last section of the paper, I will cover my tentative plan of action that is backed by my theology and philosophy of youth ministry. The first part of my plan is having a strong team of volunteers. This will be one of my first main steps in ministry. I recognize that I am only one person and I cannot to everything. Many church members believe young believers bring baggage of their pre-faith lives such as language, dress, humor, relationships etc. while many young believers find church culture such as language, customs, and music to be foreign. I believe that we have to find a way for the older generation and the younger generation to coexist in the same church. To accomplish this, I think combining the preparatory and the inclusive approaches mentioned in the Four Views of Youth Ministry book. The inclusive approach focuses on making sure the students are a part of the church congregation. For me, this means letting the students have a voice about church wide decisions but not letting them take over. This approach focuses on finding a place for youth within every ministry, not creating a special ministry for the youth. I believe this is very important that the youth learn how to be a functional member of the congregation; however, I also believe they need to learn apart from the adults. This is where the preparatory approach falls into place. The preparatory approach focuses on training the youth to be leaders of the future church. My ideal approach is to combine these two for the main points. By giving the youth the chance to be involved in the congregation for some things such as certain committees or even small groups, they will get the chance to feel a connection to the church while growing from the wisdom of others and getting a chance to voice their opinion. By also giving the youth the opportunity to have leadership positions, for those who feel called, gives them the opportunity to relate to each other about sin and struggles that they are dealing with- ones that the older generations could not relate to. By combining these approaches, adults in the church will be interacting more the youth. From the inclusive approach, the youth and adults will be growing spiritually together while the
