Reflection On My Writing

My attitude toward this preface mirrors my attitude toward nearly every essay assignment I’ve received this semester. Almost every task from this class seemed daunting from my perspective, and, initially, I resisted, but then, eventually ceased worrying about the outcome and focused on producing as great of an essay as possible. Often, this process included focusing on one thing at a time, something I have not always excelled at doing, and therefore focused on correcting throughout the year.

Moreover, the process of completing these essays has taught me how to productively channel my internal writing impulses and intuitions into coherent ideas-an intentional skill that benefitted my writing throughout the entirety of this course. Additionally, the ability to do this boosted my confidence as a writer. However, embracing my gift truly gave me confidence as a writer. One approach, in terms of my writing that I really wanted to continue to develop, was to “just write”- an approach that substantially increased my confidence also, subsequently affecting my writing.
Nonetheless, I knew, that my writing this semester needed to improve in other specific areas, as I specified on an assignment earlier this year. Mainly, in terms of grammar, I knew that improving my use of transitional words would drastically increase the quality and readability of my works. Consequently, I maintained a specific focus on improving this area of my writing. Moreover, I’ve intentionally adopted the habit of taking notes and annotating, a device that has helped me substantially throughout this class, and surely this has manifested itself into my writing style
