Staff development is designed to help staff members learn responsibilities acquired skill and competency. The institution that I am currently employed conduct various staff development projects to assist their employees in keeping current with their current practices. The learning theory that aligns with the organization staff development program is the transformational learning theory by Jack Mizirow. In this model, the company aims to transform the current way of doing things and to embrace changes within the organization. The transformational learning is appropriate for the enterprise because it enables employees to reflect on their past experiences and to accept changes (Merriam, 2014). For example, one of the staff development program in-service focuses on helping students who enrolled in the Nursing Assistant Program pass their state board examination by 99% both the theoretical and clinical aspect. Several teaching strategies are available, but this depends on the program being developed or taught. One of the strategies of instruction used in the institution for teaching the Nursing Assistant program is the lecture. Lecturing is a straightforward way to impart knowledge to students quickly. Lecturing has many advantages, including the ability to provide information to a large number of students and cover a large amount of material quickly, while using class time efficiently in a cost-effective manner.
