Statement of Purpose
Every child deserves an education that will ensure his or her academic, social, and emotional success. This should be a right guaranteed to all children, not a privilege afforded to few. As a teacher it is my responsibility to ensure that all the children in my classroom are guaranteed this right. In order to accomplish this goal, I aspire to more deeply comprehend how children respond to the variety of curriculum demands and the spectrum of instructional strategies presented to them. My overall objective is to learn more about efficiently determining the most effective option for the diverse learning needs of my students. I believe that it is important for everyone in the education profession to continuously work to improve their craft and learn new techniques to improve their student instruction. I am eager to challenge myself to become more aptly equipped to understand the needs of my future students though the Boston College Lynch Graduate School of Education.
The journey which led me to my personal perspective as an educator included a variety of experiences in school settings. I began my college career as an undecided major, until one of my classes included an assignment that involved providing homework help and after school care to children at a nearby school. Naively, my original impression of the program was that it was babysitting job for school credit. It was not until I was matched with the young boy I would be tutoring that I became newly intrigued. I
