A large group of students in the United States makeup a large population of English language learners. Students who are considered English language learners undergo many challenges in their education, and without the necessary support and resources from their educators it can make it hard for them to succeed. A teacher plays a significant role in the success of a child, and it is crucial for them to be able to provide the proper education to students whose first language is not English. It is also very important for teachers to understand the challenges that these students are facing. Having empathy towards the students allows for the teacher to create better connections and relationships to better help them.
I have taught many students over my career. I have always sought to encourage, support and motivate them so that they could create better lives for themselves. Teaching is an ideal profession to help others determine and reach their potential. And I know that I must continue to develop myself professionally in order to be a better teacher and educator My motivation is to study and research practical consultancy projects with schools and education policy organizations.
My first grade teacher even made a special job for me where I would run class during our daily warm ups. My junior year I started going to going to the elementary once a week, and that is when I knew for sure I wanted to be an elementary teacher. I really love working with kids and wish I could
As a building principal, I have interviewed, hired, and mentored numerous teachers at Cedar Crest High School. Through this process, I have seen what it takes to develop and become an outstanding educator for students. First and foremost, the individual must be passionate for student learning and willing to go the extra miles. In addition to passion, I believe an outstanding educator is a hard-worker, someone who has lived life in the trenches and knows the value of a good job. Teaching is not a nine to five job, it is a full-time commitment.
What better way to combine my love for young children and the desire to help others grow in knowledge than to become an elementary teacher? My favorite classroom to work in is kindergarten. Being with children, taking care of children, and loving on children has always been something I treasure, and I have been blessed with the gift of working well with children. For me, my decision was not “I'm going to become a teacher, but what do I want to teach?” I concurrently decided to teach and to teach kindergarten because of my love for children and how much I truly enjoy teaching.
I myself am native speaker, and English is my second language, but if it would be me the kid who goes to school in America and everything I study at school is in english and not related to me in anyway, whether it is my language or my history then, of course I would need to learn my native language because I don’t live my homeland and this is my school now that will teach who I would be tomorrow, So yes I agree and support the school system that offers teaching kids their Native Language, because they are teaching kids who they are. I was doing observation at Minnesota Math and Science Academy “Charter School” for my other Education Class, and while I was observing their I realized that 80% of the students at the school belong to same ethnicity background, and I happen to the same question whether they teach kids their native language or
This class was interesting as it was the first time I taught about when I would actually be teaching in the school. It became a bit more real when we were discussing what kinds of activists we would do when we are in the classroom and what challenges we might face. To be an effective teacher, there will always be some challenges. One challenge is to be responsive to students feelings and to our own feelings, as students may say things that I might not like and I don't want a classroom full of conflict.
One of my main goals as a teacher other than to help a student grow mentally wiser is to create a second home for my students. Teachers should always make sure every child is comfortable and feels safe in the classroom. I believe that without creating a comfortable classroom environment, it is impossible for all students to learn to their best ability. Teaching to me means having a safe spot for my kids.
I plan to go into the field of Education when I begin attending North Greenville University. I am pursuing this field because I have always felt a strong passion to assist in developing young children into successful adults. I feel that teachers are a type of superheroes that help children grow and set the foundation for prosperous lives. In elementary school, children learn how to read, write, and facts about science and history. Teaching children about the importance of conserving the environment is very crucial for the future of the earth.
Primary school teachers will inevitably play a big part in the emotional development of their students, so fostering positive relationships can encourage positive emotional responses regarding their education. The way students see both themselves and others will be reflective of their experiences in the environment, so teachers should always aim to be relatable and respectful to students in hopes of developing a high-quality relationship with each child. My greatest anxiety in regards to becoming a teacher is whether I will be able to reach every child I teach. My passion for teaching stems from my love of learning, and from sharing knowledge with others, but I understand that not every child learns in the same way.
I want to teach because I believe that I can make a difference in today society to shape young minds. The reason why I wanted to become a teacher is when I was in high school I did not have a clue what I wanted to be and then I met this teacher who actually had my sister for a student. So basically she already knew my whole family. Anyways when I met this teacher she started to ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up and my responds was I have no clue, I am still experiencing things. Then she started to tell me about what she teaches, she teaches child development.
I have never had problems in school. In fact, I would even say I enjoyed and loved school ever since I was a child. I cannot help, but say my cultural background has played a major role in shaping my educational path and expectations towards it. My personal background, my development, my education and the experiences as a student have shaped my attitude towards education and allowed me to choose to become a history teacher as a career. I have only been in the classroom for over three months.
As a future educator, I will not only be bringing in content knowledge to the classroom. I will also bring myself. In bringing, however consciously, my beliefs, values, and opinions, it's critical for me as a teacher to understand and reflect on what those are. If I am not intentional in my teaching, how can I hope to predict what my students will take away?
One of the earliest childhood memories I can remember is playing teacher and forcing my eager little sister to be my “student”. I remember using an unused, old wooden desk in our basement as the center point of my make-believe classroom and printing out worksheets as homework for my three-year old little sister. I was in first grade when I decided I wanted to teach when I grew up. I always knew that I wanted a career where I would be making a difference in people’s lives, and even at six years old I knew that teaching is what I was meant to do.
Growing up in a house with a mom who is an educator showed me the importance of education and spreading the love I have for teaching others and helping them grow as a learner. I grew up surrounded by classrooms from a young age. I would hang out in my mom’s room in the morning and after school while she worked. I loved going to school and never wanted to miss a day for any reason. I loved school because of the teachers and staff I had and I would love to be the reason kids love coming to school as well.
